LIRA, Uganda – The Management of Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding a fraudulent individual extorting money from job seekers under the false guise of offering employment at the facility.
In a press statement released on Friday, hospital authorities identified a suspect who is reportedly using the name of Senior Executive Consultant, Dr. Andrew Odur, to lend credibility to the scheme. The individual is said to be contacting members of the public via telephone number 0791 986 880 – a line registered to one Brenda Akoli – and promising job placements at the hospital in exchange for cash payments.
“Management strongly warns the public not only to disregard such individual or any person making such fraudulent employment offers in the name of the Hospital but also immediately report any suspected cases of fraud, extortion, or attempted solicitation to the relevant authorities,” the statement read.
The hospital confirmed that the matter has already been reported to the Police, who are now working to identify and apprehend the suspect for legal action.
In its advisory, LRRH reminded the public that recruitment for all public service positions falls exclusively under the mandate of the Health Service Commission. All legitimate vacancies are advertised through official communication channels, and no payments are ever required for consideration or appointment.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency, the hospital management emphasised a Zero Tolerance to Corruption stance, urging job seekers to never give money or personal information to anyone promising employment outside the established recruitment process.

Members of the public with information about the suspect or similar schemes are encouraged to contact the Police immediately.
