LIRA, UGANDA – The Dokolo District community is in shock following the sudden and mysterious death of its Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Mr. Geoffrey Epere, whose body was discovered in a lodge in Lira City on Sunday.

The lifeless body of Mr. Epere was found yesterday in a room at Bistro Lodge, where he had reportedly spent the night. The circumstances leading to his death remain unclear and have prompted an immediate police investigation.
According to initial reports, lodge staff discovered the body and alerted the authorities. Police from Lira Central Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area for preliminary investigations, and later picked the body.
The body has been transferred to the Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of his sudden death.
The death was confirmed by the Dokolo District Chairperson, Hon. James Otoo Apili. In a statement, Chairperson Apili expressed his profound sorrow over the tragic incident.
“It is with great sadness that I confirm the passing of our Deputy CAO, Mr. Geoffrey Epere. It is unfortunate that he has died in such circumstances,” Apili stated. “On behalf of Dokolo District Local Government, I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. We await the police findings for more details.”
The news has sent ripples of grief through the district administration, where Mr. Epere was known as a dedicated public servant. Colleagues described him as a hardworking and committed official.
As the community mourns his loss, attention is now focused on the ongoing investigation. Police have not yet indicated whether foul play is suspected but are treating the case with urgency.
The family of the deceased is understood to be making arrangements as they await the release of the body from the mortuary.
