LIRA CITY – MONDAY – What began as a routine journey on the campaign trail turned into a profoundly moving affirmation for Oyam District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, following a chance encounter in a Lira City supermarket.
En route to Abok to rally support for her re-election bid, Hon. Alum made a stop in Lira City. It was there, amidst the aisles of a local supermarket, that she experienced a moment of pure joy and validation.
The MP was approached by a bright young woman, Oliver Amule, from Loro Sub County, who reintroduced herself with a story that left the legislator "too much excited and very happy."
Amule recounted how her academic journey was significantly shaped by Hon. Alum's encouragement years earlier. In 2016, while a pupil at Agomi Primary School, Amule was one of the students recognized by the MP for their outstanding performance.
"After I got first grade in primary school in 2016, I was invited to Oyam district to receive gifts from Hon. Santa Alum. This act of recognition gave me the encouragement to study hard," Amule explained to the MP.
That initial motivation proved to be a powerful catalyst. Fueled by the MP's belief in her, Amule dedicated herself to her studies with renewed vigor.
"She continued that when she got the message of encouragement from Hon. Alum, she worked hard and got a first grade in S.4," the MP later shared, beaming with pride.
Amule expressed her profound gratitude to the legislator, whom she described as "a good person who has helped so many girls and advised many young people to focus on education." She wished the MP well in her ongoing campaign, stating, "God should bless Santa Alum Ogwang abundantly."
Touched by the encounter, Hon. Alum praised Amule as "a true hard-working young lady who takes advice seriously." The meeting served as a powerful reminder of the long-term impact that mentorship and investment in education can have on the youth.
The spontaneous reunion not only provided a moment of celebration but also powerfully underscored Hon. Alum's commitment to empowering the next generation, turning a simple campaign stop into a testament to her past work.
