MP Linda Auma Urges Lango to Seize Nursing Opportunities in Germany, Calls for More Enrollments in German Language Training

Lira, Uganda – Lira Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Linda Agnes Auma, has called upon the people of Lango to take advantage of the opportunity for Ugandan nurses to work in Germany, emphasizing that this could transform their livelihoods.

Speaking during a donation event in Onyekede Parish, Amach Sub County on Sunday evening, Auma revealed that she had engaged with the German government, which has agreed to recruit nurses from Uganda. However, she expressed concern that only a few people from Lango are enrolling in the mandatory German language training program at the Jerusalem Institute of Health Sciences.

“This is a golden opportunity for our nurses. The German government is ready to welcome them, but they must first learn the language. I urge all qualified nurses in Lango to enroll so they can secure well-paying jobs abroad and support their families back home,” Auma said.

She further stressed that those with nursing certificates should act quickly, as the demand for healthcare workers in Germany presents a life-changing chance to earn better incomes and contribute to the development of Lango.

Adding his voice, Twesigye Winston, a student from Western Uganda currently undertaking German language training, encouraged the people of Lango to embrace the program. “Nurses in Germany earn good money and can support their families significantly. This is an opportunity that should not be missed,” he said.

During the event, Auma also fulfilled a 2021 campaign promise by distributing over 2,000 saucepans to households in Onyekede Parish, demonstrating her commitment to improving the welfare of her constituents.

As the German labor market opens its doors, Auma’s appeal highlights the need for more proactive engagement from Lango’s nursing professionals to secure a brighter economic future.
