Faith and Academics Go Hand in Hand, Says Amugu SS Headteacher on QFM

Alebtong — The Headteacher of Amugu Senior Secondary School, Joel Okello, has urged students to make prayer a regular part of their lives, describing it as the key to wisdom and a bright future.

Mr. Okello made the remarks during a joint prayer service held at Amugu SS and aired live on QFM’s popular Sunday program “Gospel Explosion”. The event, which brought together more than 300 students from different religious backgrounds, was led by the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) but welcomed participants from all faiths.

“Knowing God is the beginning of wisdom,” Okello told the attentive congregation. “At Amugu SS, we believe in building both the academic and spiritual lives of our students. That is why discipline and faith are core to our success.”

He emphasized that students who put God first, maintain discipline, and take their studies seriously are more likely to succeed not just in school but also in life.

During the prayer session, preacher Abel Okello cautioned students against the influence of evil and reminded them to be genuine in their relationship with God.

“Some people go to church but leave their hearts behind,” he said. “Let us pray with sincerity. God wants our hearts, not just our presence.”

Ambrose Angura, the host of Sunday Gospel Explosion and popularly known as “The Bishop of QFM,” also addressed the students. He encouraged them to be grateful to their parents for sending them to school and to make good use of the opportunity.

“There are many young people out there who wish to be in school but can’t,” Angura noted. “You who are here, especially the girls, must take your education seriously and give it your all.”

Amugu SS currently has an enrollment of 308 students and is known for promoting academic excellence alongside moral and spiritual guidance.

The prayer service was widely praised by students, parents, and the local community for fostering unity, discipline, and spiritual growth among learners.
