Alebtong Woman MP Dorcas Acen Vows to Retain NRM Flag in 2026, Calls for Respectful Campaigns

Angetta, Alebtong – April 12, 2025

Alebtong Woman Member of Parliament, Dorcas Acen, has reaffirmed her commitment to continue holding the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag in the 2026 general elections, promising to uphold the party’s values with dignity.

Acen made the declaration on Saturday at a gathering in Angetta Sub-County, where NRM leaders had invited aspirants eyeing the party’s ticket for various positions. She emphasized that she remains a loyal NRM member and has not brought any shame to the party.

“I am still holding the NRM flag with pride, and I will continue to do so without tarnishing its reputation,"Acen stated.

She welcomed fellow aspirants with open arms but cautioned them against using divisive language during campaigns. “Let us compete with love and avoid insults—what matters is the development of Alebtong,"she urged.

In a show of unity, Acen rallied NRM members in Alebtong to support Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, the Ajuri County MP, who is vying for the NRM Northern Region Vice Chairperson position. She argued that Obua’s leadership would benefit not only Ajuri but also Lango sub-region and Northern Uganda at large.

Moses Ogwang, the NRM Chairperson for Angetta, praised Acen for her mature approach toward competitors, saying her words reflected true party loyalty.

As the race for 2026 heats up, Acen’s message of unity and respectful competition sets the tone for NRM’s internal elections in Alebtong.
