UPC Flag Aspirant Denis Opio Elia Gains Strong Support as Alebtong Chairperson Stresses Fair Elections
I Will Vote Eddy Morrish Ogweng For MP Lira City West 2026-2031

Alebtong, August 15, 2025 – The chairperson of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) in Alebtong, James Akung Wapakabulo, has issued a strong warning to all UPC registrars in Alebtong district against any attempts to manipulate or tamper with the election results scheduled for Saturday. The elections will determine UPC flag bearers for members of parliament and the position of chairperson.

Speaking on Thursday at a rally held by parliamentary aspirant Denis Opio Elia, who is seeking the UPC flag for Moroto County, Akung emphasized that anyone found interfering with the electoral process will face strict action in accordance with the law. “We want a free, fair, and transparent election. Any registrar or party official caught tampering with the results will be dealt with severely,” Akung declared.

During the rally, Denis Opio Elia appealed to UPC delegates from the villages of Abia and surrounding areas to support his candidacy, describing himself as the most competent person for the job. “I have connections all over the world, and I will use these networks to bring development and fight poverty in Moroto,” said Opio, promising to be a dependable representative for his community in parliament.

Opio further pledged to remain accessible and responsive to the needs of Moroto residents, promising effective advocacy and mobilization for development projects if elected.

The UPC elections are a critical step for the party ahead of upcoming national polls, and leaders like Akung are keen to ensure the process is free from fraud, reinforcing the party’s commitment to democratic principles.
