OYAM – In a powerful demonstration of grassroots support, the women of Myene, joined by voters across the sub-county, have declared a consolidated block vote for the re-election of Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang as Woman Member of Parliament for Oyam.
The pledge, announced during a vibrant community gathering, was framed not as a mere political endorsement, but as a reciprocal commitment to a leader who has delivered visible and transformative projects.
“We are not just supporting a candidate; we are standing with a proven performer,” stated a representative of the Myene to Oyam district local government Nelson Oloa. “Hon. Alum has turned promises into tangible progress for every family here.”
Voters presented a catalog of achievements that form the bedrock of their support:
· Healthcare Revolution: The critical elevation of Acimi Health II to a fully functional Health Centre III, bringing improved maternal and general medical services closer to the people.
· Security & Coexistence: Successful advocacy for the electric fencing of Murchison Falls National Park boundary, a long-sought solution to human-wildlife conflict protecting lives and livelihoods.
· Empowerment through Power: Effective lobbying for rural electrification, with technical mapping already completed, paving the way for connected homes and businesses.
· Foundational Support: The rehabilitation of dilapidated schools, churches, and health facilities, strengthening the community's social fabric.
· Infrastructure Leap: The rehabilitation of over five key community roads within Myene, improving market access, mobility, and economic activity.
“These achievements are not posters on a wall; they are things we use every day. They are proof of her dedication and effective representation,” said a local parish chairperson.
The gathering transcended mere appraisal, evolving into a strategic mobilisation call. Community leaders and voters passionately appealed for unity, urging every household in Oyam to rally behind Hon. Alum to “crown her victorious” in the forthcoming elections.
“We have seen the blueprints of a brighter future in our sub-county,” the Women’s Council concluded. “To continue this momentum and secure it for all of Oyam, Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang is the most suitable candidate. Let us go forward together.”
