Oyam District, Uganda – In a bold declaration ahead of the 2026 general elections, Stella Anyangohas officially announced her intention to contest for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Oyam District (2026–2031), promising a leadership built on integrity, accountability, and community-centered development.
Unveiling her manifesto, Anyango rooted her campaign in core values such as Integrity and Accountability, Equity and Justice, Service Before Self, Transparency and Participation, and the Civilian Oversight of Security.
“My vision is a transformed Oyam where leadership listens, acts, and delivers. I am not here to make empty promises. I stand for values and service,” she told a cheering crowd during a grassroots meeting.

Agriculture and Livelihoods
Stella Anyango placed heavy emphasis on revamping agriculture, vowing to:
• Support farmers with quality seeds, skills training, and access to markets
• Revive cooperative societies and SACCOs
• Introduce irrigation schemes and value addition programs at the district level
Education and Youth Empowerment
• Rehabilitate dilapidated schools and advocate for improved teacher welfare
• Launch vocational training programs targeting youth across sub-counties
• Provide bursaries to talented but underprivileged students
Healthcare and Social Welfare
• Improve health service delivery and ensure availability of essential drugs
• Lobby the Ministry of Health to equip and staff rural health centers
• Roll out support programs for the elderly and persons with disabilities
Infrastructure and Environment
• Champion better roads, bridges, and rural electrification
• Protect wetlands, forests, and water bodies from illegal exploitation
• Initiate school- and community-based tree-planting campaigns and environmental education

Anyango issued a heartfelt appeal to the people of Oyam, urging them to reject vote-buying and corruption.
“Let us not sell our future for short-term gain. Elect leaders who have the heart to serve, not the wallet to buy loyalty,” she warned.

Stella Anyango has received endorsement from NRM leaders in Oyam District, setting the stage for a high-profile political contest with Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang of the UPC party, the current Woman MP.
