Police Shake-Up: Over 10 Officers Moved from North Kyoga to New Stations

North Kyoga, Uganda – June 30, 2025

The Uganda Police Force has announced a major reshuffle involving several senior officers from the North Kyoga Region in a strategic move aimed at enhancing crime-fighting efforts across the country. The transfers, which are part of the Force’s routine redeployments, saw both departures and new appointments across various regions.


Superintendent of Police (SP) Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the changes and extended appreciation to the outgoing officers for their service and commitment to duty.


Key Transfers and Appointments:

SSP Mugisa Charles has been transferred from Kwania District and appointed Deputy Regional Police Commander (D/RPC), Wamala Region.

SSP Katumba Christopher Kigundu leaves Amolatar District to become D/RPC, Kiira Region.

SP Alida Alison arrives from Fort Portal and is now the District Police Commander (DPC), Kwania.

SP Mafabi John is moved from Bugiri to take over as DPC, Amolatar.

SP Rwomushana Joram has been transferred from North Kyoga and appointed Regional Police Development Focal Point (R/PDF), Rwizi Region.

D/SP Magezi Uthman, formerly at Lira-City Central Police Station (CPS), becomes Regional Legal and Human Rights Officer, Aswa West Region.

SP Omony George Mathew leaves Lira-City West Division to serve as DPC, Sembabule.

SP Edatu Cosmas, previously in Kumi, takes over as DPC, Lira-City West Division.

D/ASP Among Gloria has been transferred from North Kyoga to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) East as Regional Staff Officer.

ASP Acaye Moses moves from North Kyoga and will now serve as Officer in Charge (OC) Station, Ishasha Police Station in Kanungu District.

ASP Tebesigira Sarah, previously at Angetta Police Station in Alebtong, is now OC Station, Jinja Masindye in Mukono.

SP Patrick Jimmy Okema commended the outgoing officers for their exceptional contributions to the North Kyoga Region.

“We thank and wish all officers well in their new appointments. We urge them to go and demonstrate the same spirit and professionalism they showed while serving in North Kyoga. Equally, we warmly welcome the incoming commanders into the region,” said SP Okema.

He emphasized the spirit of unity within the Force, noting that the North Kyoga team thrives on teamwork and shared responsibility.

“We believe in teamwork — together, we can police effectively and reduce crime in our communities,” he added.

SP Okema also extended gratitude to the appointing authorities for entrusting these officers with new responsibilities, adding that transfers are a normal and strategic part of building a professional, nationwide police force.

“These changes reflect the strategic intention that all officers are capable of serving anywhere in the country as part of our national policing goals,” he concluded.

The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh energy to various commands, with a renewed focus on community policing, law enforcement, and crime prevention.
