LIRA CITY, WEST – In a bid to transform the Ober Kampala cell into a model of urban development, Mr. David Okede, popularly known as "Lango One," has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the position of Local Council 1 (LC1) Chairperson.
Running under the symbolic sign of the clock, Okede declared on Monday that "the time has come" for the residents of Ober to experience a new dawn of prosperity, security, and reliable public services.
During a press briefing ahead of his campaign launch, Lango One outlined a comprehensive manifesto that tackles the core challenges facing the community.
Topping his agenda is the restoration of peace and security. Okede pledged to work closely with the community policing units to curb the rising cases of robberies and theft that have been stifling local businesses.
"It is time for the people of Ober to sleep peacefully and for business to boom without fear of being robbed," Okede stated. "We cannot develop if we are living in fear. My administration will prioritize the safety of every resident and trader."
Development and Basic Services
Beyond security, Okede promised a "development shock" for the cell. His key pledges include:
· Infrastructure: Advocating for a good road network to open up the area and improve accessibility.
· Utilities: Lobbying for constant electricity to end the frequent blackouts that have crippled small businesses, alongside ensuring access to clean and safe water for all households.
· Economic Empowerment: Ensuring that every eligible resident benefits from government programs. "I will make sure that everyone gets the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds and that cattle restocking reaches those who have been left out," he assured.
Okede is set to hit the ground running, with his official campaign rally scheduled to commence on Tuesday at Ober Primary School. He has called upon all residents to come out and listen to his vision.
"I am not here to make empty promises," he concluded. "The clock is ticking, and it is time for real change in Ober Kampala. Vote for the clock, vote for Lango One."
