A group of current and former youth leaders from Otuke District paid a courtesy visit to the Otuke Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Abdul George, to express their gratitude for his exceptional coordination of government programs in the district. The delegation, led by Geoffrey Odongo, the General Secretary of the NRM Youth League in Otuke District and also the District Youth Chairperson, presented the RDC with a goat as a symbol of their appreciation.
During the visit, Odongo highlighted the RDC’s pivotal role in implementing transformative government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), which has significantly improved the livelihoods of many residents, particularly the youth. He noted that small enterprises run by young people have expanded and thrived under the RDC’s watch, thanks to the effective rollout of PDM.
Odongo also commended the RDC for his diligent monitoring of the One Billion Road Fund, which has led to the improvement of road networks across the district. He emphasized that the RDC’s efforts have fostered a harmonious working relationship between technocrats and politicians, creating an environment conducive to development since Abdul George assumed office.
In his remarks, RDC Abdul George expressed his gratitude to the youth leaders for their kind gesture and unwavering support. He urged them to continue openly supporting President Museveni and the NRM government, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the prevailing peace in the district.
“I am deeply touched by this gesture of love and appreciation from the youth. Let us continue working together to sustain the peace we enjoy today and to spread the word about the good things the NRM government has done for our people,” Abdul George stated.
The visit underscored the critical role young people can play in supporting and advancing government programs when entrusted with responsibilities. The youth leaders pledged to continue collaborating with the RDC to ensure the sustained development and prosperity of Otuke District.
This heartwarming interaction between the youth leaders and the RDC serves as a testament to the power of unity and effective leadership in driving community transformation.
