Lira City West NRM Leaders Reaffirm Support for Party Flagbearer Eddy Morris Ogweng
I Will Vote Eddy Morrish Ogweng For MP Lira City West 2026-2031

LIRA CITY – A group of National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in Lira City West Division has come out to reaffirm their unwavering support for their party’s flag bearer, Eddy Morris Ogweng, amid speculation that some members were considering backing Jimmy Awany Cingmalo, a UPC-leaning independent candidate.

This development comes in response to growing rumors suggesting that the emergence of Cingmalo had caused unease within NRM circles, potentially swaying some leaders away from their official candidate. However, new reports indicate a firm and united stance among NRM leaders, who have vowed to “sell their flagbearer,” rejecting any notion of defecting to support what one source described as a “non-trusted independent.”

Speaking on condition of anonymity, one senior NRM leader said the party had learned from past mistakes. “We will not repeat what happened in the last election, where our candidate disappeared from us and many shifted support. This time, Eddy Morris Ogweng has been with us every step of the way. He listens, engages, and respects party structures,” the leader emphasized.

The source praised Ogweng for his consistent presence and approachable leadership style. “He is kind, vocal, and plays mature politics. That’s what we need in Parliament.”

The leaders also hinted at upcoming strategies to mobilize the grassroots in support of Ogweng’s candidacy, promising a robust campaign to ensure he retains the NRM seat for Lira City West Division in the upcoming elections.

As political momentum continues to build in the region, the NRM’s renewed unity could prove crucial in countering the growing appeal of independent candidates like Cingmalo.
