Lango Rallies Behind Obua in NRM CEC Vice Chairperson Contest
I Will Vote Eddy Morrish Ogweng For MP Lira City West 2026-2031

Kampala– August 24, 2025:

The NRM delegates from the Lango sub-region have overwhelmingly endorsed Denis Hamson Obua for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda on the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).

In a high-level meeting with delegates today, Obua received enthusiastic support and firm assurances of votes from leaders across the region. The meeting, attended by key district chairpersons, youth leaders, and other party cadres, signaled a strong regional consensus behind his candidature.

Speaking during the gathering, Kole District NRM Chairperson Lilian Anyati praised Obua’s leadership journey, describing him as a dependable and visionary leader.

“I have seen how Obua has grown in leadership over the years. He is a devoted and agood leader who has consistently represented us well,” Anyati said.

Addressing the delegates, Obua quoted scripture, emphasizing that leadership is about timing and responsibility.

“The Bible tells us that there is a time for everything. This is my time. The positions we hold are not permanent — others held them before us, and others will take them after us. But when it is your time, you must rise to the occasion,” Obua said.

He appealed to the Lango delegates to give him their maximum support, assuring them of inclusive and focused leadership if elected.

Obua, a seasoned politician and  Government Chief Whip, is facing stiff competition from Sam Engola and Dan Kidega, both prominent NRM figures in Northern Uganda.

The endorsement from Lango could provide Obua with a significant edge in the race for the influential CEC seat, which plays a key role in shaping the direction of the ruling party in the region.
