Kole District Chairperson Unveils Vision for Development as Oil Seed Road Construction Kicks Off

Kole, Uganda– In a significant step toward regional development, Kole District has officially launched the construction of a 15-kilometer oil seed road connecting Lira University to Bala Sub-County and Bala Town Council. The long-awaited project, which faced delays due to cost concerns, has finally been given the green light after a thorough investigation by the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets (PPDA) confirmed no foul play in the procurement process.

The road, originally planned three years ago as part of the oil seed project, is set to enhance local infrastructure, improve connectivity, and unlock economic opportunities for the people of Kole.

Andrew Moses Awany, the Chairperson of Kole District, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “This road is a game-changer for our community. It will not only improve transportation but also open doors for trade, education, and development.”

Awany, who also revealed his intention to run for Member of Parliament for Kole South, used the occasion to call on voters to elect visionary leaders committed to driving progress. “We need leaders who prioritize development and work tirelessly to improve the lives of our people,” he emphasized.

The construction contract has been awarded to Bygon Enterprises, with its Director, Bosco Okello Odongo, assuring the public of timely completion.

“We have all the necessary equipment and resources ready. This project will be completed efficiently and to the highest standards,” Odongo stated.

Kole’s Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Josephine Omara Olili, urged the community to support the project and avoid any actions that could hinder its progress.

“This road is for your benefit. Let us work together to ensure its success by refraining from stealing construction materials or engaging in any unlawful activities,” she said.

The new road is expected to significantly improve accessibility for residents, students, and businesses in the region. It will provide a vital link between Lira University and Bala Town Council, fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for thousands of people.

As construction begins, the people of Kole are optimistic about the future. This project marks a new chapter in the district’s development journey, promising better connectivity, increased opportunities, and a brighter future for all.
