Alebtong, Uganda – Alebtong District Woman Member of Parliament, Dorcas Acen, has called on NRM supporters to re-elect her as the party’s flag bearer in the upcoming elections, citing her strong development record and commitment to community upliftment.
Acen made the remarks on Wednesday during a campaign rally held at Baropiro, Abukamola, and Alebelebe in Omoro Sub-county, where she addressed a gathering of party faithful.
Highlighting her achievements, Acen said she has worked tirelessly to improve road infrastructure in Alebtong and to establish vocational and catering training centers, which she said are already helping to equip many residents with practical skills and opportunities for self-employment.
“People can now learn trades and earn a living. That is the development we have started, and we must continue,” Acen said.
Looking ahead, Acen emphasized that her top priority if re-elected is to advocate for an increase in funding for the Parish Development Model (PDM) — a government initiative aimed at boosting grassroots economic transformation.
“I want government to increase the PDM funds to at least Shs 200 million per parish so that more people can benefit meaningfully,” she stated.
Acen also defended her loyalty and service to the NRM party, saying, “I have held the NRM flag high without tainting it. I remain your best choice to represent this party and the people of Alebtong.”
Her political assistant, Moses Otongo Muziki, echoed her call, urging constituents to give Acen another term, saying she has a proven track record and a clear plan to drive further development in the district.
“Dorcas Acen has delivered before and will deliver again,” Otongo said. “It’s time the people of Alebtong reaffirmed their trust in her.”
The NRM primaries are expected to draw strong competition, but Acen’s campaign is banking on her development agenda and grassroots connection to secure the party’s endorsement once again.
