Otuke District – The newly installed clan head of Okii Raki Okwero, Emmy Joe Odongo, has pledged to stand with his clan members through both difficult and joyful times, vowing that he will not allow them to suffer under his leadership.
Odongo made the commitment yesterday while addressing his subjects at Abilonyero Village, Agweng Parish, Alango Sub County, in Otuke District. In a passionate speech, he assured the community that his leadership would be defined by closeness to the people and genuine service.
"With me now as the clan head, I will ensure that I am closer to the people — both during hard times and during celebrations for good things," Odongo said. "I will not allow my clan members to suffer. That is my promise to all of you."
The clan head issued a strong warning against the collection of money from clan members, a practice he said was common under previous leadership. He made it clear that his administration will focus on helping people, not exploiting them.
"Nobody must collect money from any clan member," he cautioned. "During my leadership, I want to help people, not extort money from them as it was in the previous leadership. We are here to serve, not to take from our own people."
Odongo also addressed questions about his legitimacy, confirming that he was duly elected to the position. He dismissed any claims by individuals who might try to present themselves as clan head.
"I was duly elected, and no one will claim to be clan head," he stated firmly. "The process was clear, and the people have spoken. Let us now work together for the good of our clan."
Community members who attended the gathering welcomed the new leader's message, expressing hope that his tenure will bring unity, transparency, and real development to the Okii Raki Okwero clan.
Odongo called on all clan members to support his leadership and to work together to build a stronger, more united community. He promised to be a leader who listens, serves, and puts the interests of his people first.
