BETRAYAL DEFEATED: HON. LINDA AUMA REINSTATED AS UNOPPOSED NRM CANDIDATE FOR LIRA DISTRICT

Kampala, Uganda – July 4, 2025:

In a dramatic turn of events, Hon. Linda Agnes Auma has been officially declared the unopposed NRM flag bearer for Lira District Woman Member of Parliament for the 2025–2030 term, following the cancellation of a fraudulent nomination of her would-be rival, Akullu Rizik.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, led by Chairman Prof. Tanga Odoi, confirmed the decision at NRM Headquarters in Kampala on July 4 at 4 PM, issuing Auma her certificate of victory and reaffirming her unchallenged candidacy.

This announcement follows widespread confusion after Akullu Rizik was irregularly nominated a day after the official nomination schedule had closed, despite Auma already being declared unopposed. The move sparked outrage among Auma’s supporters and raised serious questions about internal party processes.

Upon learning of the development, Hon. Linda Auma sought clarification from the party’s top leadership. A swift internal investigation by the NRM EC revealed that Akullu Rizik’s nomination was both irregular and fraudulent, leading to its immediate cancellation.

Speaking after her reaffirmation, Hon. Auma thanked her supporters and party officials for standing by the truth, saying:

This victory is not just mine, it’s for the people of Lira who believe in justice, loyalty, and clean politics. The truth has prevailed.”

Prof. Tanga Odoi emphasized that the NRM will not tolerate manipulation of its electoral processes, stating:

“The rules are clear. Any nomination outside of the lawful schedule is invalid. Hon. Linda Auma remains our official and unopposed flag bearer for Lira District Woman MP, 2025–2030.”

With this decision, Hon. Auma not only survives what many are calling a politically orchestrated witch-hunt, but she also solidifies her position as one of the party’s trusted and resilient leaders.
