In a powerful address to the youth of her home region, H.E. Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo, Uganda's Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, has issued a clarion call for massive voter mobilization in support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Ambassador Otengo was the Chief Guest at the handover ceremony for the National Youth Council in Alebtong District, where she seamlessly transitioned from her international diplomatic role to a passionate grassroots campaigner.
Speaking with conviction, the Ambassador left no room for ambiguity regarding the upcoming elections. "Voting for President Museveni is Option A, Option B, Option C, and there is no other option than President Museveni," she declared, a statement met with cheers from the assembled young leaders.
Leveraging her position on the continental stage, Ambassador Otengo framed President Museveni's leadership in a global context. She emphasized that the President is highly respected across Africa and the world, attributing this esteem to his visionary and steadfast leadership, which she described as "the best" for Uganda's continued progress.
The core of her message centered on safeguarding the nation's achievements. She urged the youth, who form the bulk of Uganda's population, to recognize their pivotal role in protecting the dividends of the long-standing peace and stability.
"It is time to protect the gains of peace," Ambassador Otengo stated. "Since no one wants to go back to camps, we need roads, we need schools, we need hospitals, and we need to continue the fight against poverty eradication. This is what we stand to lose if we do not consolidate our support."
Her appeal was a direct call to the collective memory of the Lango sub-region, reminding them of the turmoil of the past and contrasting it with the current development agenda.
Ambassador Otengo's visit is part of a broader effort to galvanize support in the Lango sub-region. She has been actively engaging communities, reinforcing the message that maximum support for President Museveni is synonymous with continued development and national stability. The event also served to energize the newly inaugurated youth council leaders, tasking them with being the vanguard of this voter mobilization drive in their district.
