LIRA CITY – As Lango Province celebrated a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Teso Province to advance to the FUFA Drum semi-finals, they received a special message of encouragement from one of Uganda’s most prominent footballing sons, Allan Okello.

The match, played at UTC Ground, was decided by a solitary strike from Emmanuel Okech in the 79th minute. The goal sent the home crowd into raptures, confirming Lango’s place in the last four alongside Acholi Province and Bunyoro Province.

Following the final whistle, Okello took to his X account to congratulate the team. The Young Africans FC and Uganda Cranes star wrote: “Well done to Lango Province yesterday and good luck in the next round.”

Okello’s message added a layer of prestige to the victory, acknowledging the squad’s resilience and rallying behind them as they prepare for the upcoming semi-final challenges. The win marks a significant achievement for Lango Province, who will look to capitalize on their home momentum as they aim to go all the way in this year’s tournament.
