Lango Football Fans in Awe as Shs 470 Billion Akii-Bua Stadium Takes Shape at 70%

LIRA CITY – A delegation of Lango Province fans led by their Chairman Mali Tabu and Patron Sam Ebuk, popularly known as Sam Samu, made a site visit to the Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira City and expressed sheer amazement at the remarkable progress of the ongoing construction works .


The visibly excited leaders toured the main stadium bowl and inspected various sections where construction is actively underway. They took time to sit on the already installed spectator chairs, marveling at the state-of-the-art facility taking shape in the heart of Lango sub-region.


"We are overwhelmed by what we have seen today," said Sam Samu . The Patron extended heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has contributed to the realization of the project, urging the local community to rally behind the development.


Engineer Hegazy Hamdy, the Construction Manager, provided updates on the progress, confirming that the project is now 70% complete . He reassured the delegation that by August, the construction will surpass the 90% mark.


"The contractor is delivering quality work, and we are confident of meeting our targets," Eng. Hegazy stated.


The stadium, named in honor of Uganda’s first Olympic gold medalist John Akii-Bua, is a flagship government project that may host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and is also expected to boost the economic vitality of Northern Uganda .
