We Will Not Pay for Jobs: Kole MP Opio Acuti Slams Bribery at District Service Commission

KOLE, UGANDA – The Member of Parliament for Kole North, Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti, has declared that his second term in office will be defined by action and development, not rhetoric.

"This term is for work, not speech, " Dr. Opio Acuti said emphatically.

He made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony held in honor of the Kole District Chairperson, Engineer Moses Oteng. The well-attended event took place at Abungenga Village, Alito Sub-county, in Kole District.

Addressing his constituents, the MP made it clear that the days of empty political promises are behind him. He stressed that his renewed mandate would be channeled entirely into tangible results for the people he serves.

Dr. Opio Acuti also called for unity among the district’s political leadership. He announced that he, alongside fellow Members of Parliament Boniface Okot and Sandra Aceng, will work hand-in-hand with Chairperson Moses Oteng to accelerate the development agenda for Kole District.

In a sharp turn during his speech, the legislator issued a stern caution to the Kole District Service Commission (DSC). He accused the commission of demanding hefty sums of money from residents in exchange for government jobs.

"Many people of Kole are suffering because residents are paying huge amounts of money for jobs. This is unacceptable," Dr. Opio Acuti stated, condemning the practice.

Echoing the MP’s anti-corruption stance, Engineer Moses Oteng promised to take decisive action regarding the composition of the District Service Commission.

Oteng assured the public that he will only appoint individuals who are trusted and whose hands are clean to serve on the commission.

"Some people who are corrupt will not be appointed as DSC members because they will not work well," Eng. Oteng declared.

He further cautioned residents to resist the urge to offer bribes to officials whenever they need assistance, urging them to follow proper legal procedures instead.
