KOLE, UGANDA – Dorothy Loy Akech, a prominent advocate for women’s leadership and aspiring Member of Parliament for Kole District’s Woman MP seat on the NRM ticket, has called upon women in the district to actively participate in politics and take up leadership positions.
Speaking during a recent mobilization meeting, Akech emphasized that women possess unique leadership qualities that can drive positive change in communities.
“Even men feel proud when their women are in leadership," she said. “Women are compassionate, decisive, and bring a different perspective to governance. That’s why I believe women make the best leaders."
Akech, who has been actively engaging with grassroots women, encouraged them to overcome fear and self-doubt, urging them to participate in both party and general politics.
“It’s time for women to stop being mere supporters and step into leadership roles," she added. “Whether it’s at the local council level or in Parliament, your voice matters."
Her message has resonated with many women in Kole, who have often shied away from politics due to cultural barriers and limited support. Akech’s campaign is now inspiring a new wave of female political engagement in the district.
Political analysts say her bold stance could shift dynamics in Kole’s leadership landscape, especially as more women gain confidence to contest for positions.
As the 2026 elections approach, Akech’s rallying call remains clear: “Women of Kole, stand up, speak up, and lead!"
