Eddy Morris Ogweng Eyes NRM General Secretary Post in Lira City, Promises Unity and Policy Action

LIRA CITY — Eddy Morris Ogweng has officially declared his interest in the position of National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Secretary for Lira City, joining the race with a bold promise to foster unity and strengthen the party’s operations at all levels.

Ogweng, a known mobilizer within the NRM structures, said his decision was driven by the desire to create cohesion among party organs and build a stronger link between Lira City and the national NRM Secretariat.

“I want to ensure that all party members in Lira City fully benefit from the programs and opportunities of our party,” Ogweng stated during his announcement.

If elected, Ogweng plans to strengthen the implementation of NRM policies at both the local and national levels. He emphasized his commitment to mobilizing members to actively participate in the party’s political, economic, and social agenda.

“My goal is to revitalize the structures and ensure effective grassroots mobilization so that our people are not just party members, but active participants in the NRM’s development programs,” he added.

Ogweng’s declaration sets the stage for a competitive race, as he will be facing off against Dr. Morris Chris Ongom, who has also expressed interest in the same position. The contest is expected to attract significant attention within party circles, given the strategic importance of Lira City in the NRM’s broader political map.

The election for the NRM General Secretary (Lira City Executive) is anticipated in the coming months, with campaigns expected to focus on issues of inclusivity, party service delivery, and grassroots empowerment.
