Lira, Uganda – In a bid to promote cocoa farming and support local farmers, With Hand Tree Planting Company Limited has announced a special discount on cocoa seedlings, selling them at just 600 shillings each.
Located along Ngetta Road opposite Shire Petrol Station,the company is offering 30,000 cocoa seedlings at the reduced rate to make them more accessible to farmers with limited financial resources.
Jimmy Odongo,the Executive Director of With Hand Tree Planting Company—also popularly known as “Doctor Kwanypii Ikoma said the initiative aims to help farmers who own large plots of land but struggle to afford seedlings at higher market prices.
“Many farmers have the land but lack the capital to invest in cocoa farming. By lowering the price, we are giving them an opportunity to grow a profitable crop,"Odongo explained.
In addition to cocoa, the company is also supplying clone eucalyptus seedlings at 300 shillings each,with over one million seedlings currently available. With Hand Tree Planting Co. boasts a wide variety of both indigenous and modern seedlings catering to different agricultural needs.
Odongo encouraged farmers in Lira and neighboring districts to take advantage of the offer, emphasizing that cocoa farming presents a lucrative long-term investment.
“Cocoa is a high-value crop, and with proper management, farmers can earn sustainable income. We are here to support them from the seedling stage to harvest," he added.
Farmers interested in purchasing the discounted seedlings can visit the company’s nursery along Ngetta Road or contact them for bulk orders.
This initiative is expected to boost cocoa production in the region,providing farmers with an alternative cash crop while promoting environmental conservation through tree planting.
