Seven Students Injured as 15-Man Gang Attacks Apac Seed Secondary School

APAC – A violent attack by suspected criminal gang members on students of Apac Seed Secondary School has left seven young people injured, three of them seriously. The incident occurred on the night of April 5, 2026, at approximately 10:00 pm, shattering the calm of Easter weekend in the district.

According to a statement released by the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the assailants—believed to be about 15 in number—were armed with pangas and knives.

The trouble began when a suspicious individual was spotted near the girls’ dormitory. Male students who moved in to challenge the intruder saw him flee and jump over the school fence. One student gave chase, but instead of catching the suspect, he walked into a carefully laid ambush. The waiting gang severely cut him with pangas.

As the injured victim raised an alarm, six fellow students rushed to his rescue. They were met by the larger group of attackers, resulting in a brutal confrontation that left all seven young men wounded.

Police have identified the injured students as:

1. Ojok Ivan Okabo (S4, 20 years) – Apac

2. Alele Jonathan (S3, 17 years) – Apac

3. Oyile Jonathan (S4, 19 years) – Kwania

4. Ocen Sam (S4, 20 years) – Apac

5. Awany Bruce (S4, 19 years)

6. Odongo Ronald (S3, 18 years)

7. Odur Bonny

Three of the victims sustained severe wounds to the head, neck, hands, and ribs. All seven are currently receiving treatment at Apac Main Hospital after police officers from Apac Central Police Station responded swiftly to the distress call.

A joint team of operational police personnel and the K9 unit has since revisited the scene to support investigations. Police note that victims have indicated they may be able to identify some of their attackers, raising hopes of a breakthrough.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this stage.

SP Okema noted that despite this isolated incident, Easter Sunday celebrations across the North Kyoga Region were generally peaceful, with only minor incidents reported elsewhere.

Police have promised to communicate further details as investigations progress and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
