Regional Leaders Unite: Museveni, Raila Odinga Discuss South Sudan Stability

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hosted Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, President William Ruto’s special envoy to South Sudan, for high-level discussions on the escalating security situation in the region. The talks gained further significance as Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni voiced his support for the diplomatic initiative.  


President Museveni emphasized the importance of regional collaboration, stating, “The stability of South Sudan is crucial for the entire East African community. We fully support the efforts of Raila Odinga and President Ruto in fostering lasting peace."


Raila Odinga, leading Kenya’s mediation efforts, outlined strategies to de-escalate tensions and promote dialogue among conflicting parties. “With President Museveni’s backing, we are confident in advancing sustainable solutions for South Sudan,"he said.  


Museveni reaffirmed commitment to the peace process, noting, "This united regional approach underscores our shared vision for a secure and prosperous South Sudan."


The engagement highlights growing East African leadership in resolving the crisis, with Kenya and Uganda playing pivotal roles.
