Oyam, Uganda – In a bid to bring change and development to Oyam South, Moses Opito has officially declared his intention to contest for the Member of Parliament seat on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
Speaking to journalists , Opito emphasized the need for economic empowerment, better healthcare, and quality education for the people of Oyam South.
“The voice of the people must be heard. Right now, what our people need is economic empowerment so that they can afford good hospitals and schools,” Opito said.
He urged voters to look beyond party affiliations and instead support leaders with tangible development ideas. “This is not the time to vote for a party; it is time to vote for a person with ideas. We must leave behind politics of hatred and embrace mature politics where leaders bring solutions,” he added.
Opito expressed confidence in his leadership, stating that Oyam South needs a focused leader like him to drive progress.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Oyite, a former councilor representing Loro Sub-County in Oyam District, has declared his candidacy for the District Chairperson seat.
Oyite cited rampant corruption and weak leadership as major setbacks for the district, contributing to the split that led to the creation of Aber District in 2011.
“There is too much corruption in Oyam, and I am ready to fight it. Weak leadership has held us back for too long,” Oyite stated.
He promised to restore accountability and improve service delivery if elected.
As the race for leadership positions in Oyam intensifies, voters will be looking for candidates who can deliver real change and development.
