North Kyoga Region Announces Major Shake-Up: 15 Gazetted Officers Transferred, Appointed

NORTH KYOGA REGION, Uganda – The Territorial Police in North Kyoga have announced a major reshuffle of gazetted officers following a directive from the Inspector General of Police, Byakagaba Abas, signed on April 14, 2026.


In a statement released by SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Police Spokesperson for North Kyoga Region, a total of 15 officers have been transferred, confirmed, or appointed to new positions across the region and beyond.


Among the key changes, D/SSP Batte Daniel has been moved from North Kyoga to Kiira, where he takes over as Regional CID Officer (R/CID). Meanwhile, SP Mugisa Daniel Karter, who had been serving as Deputy R/CID, has now been confirmed as the substantive R/CID for North Kyoga.


In other significant appointments, SSP Twala Peter has been transferred from the Human Resource Administration (HRA) to Lira as the Duty Free Shop and Supermarket (DFSS) manager. He replaces SP Okalany Pius, who has been moved to Nsambala in the same capacity.


The statement also confirmed that ASP Awio Darius, formerly Officer in Charge (OC) of Kitgum Police Station, has been appointed as the Regional Police Surgeon (R/PSF) for North Kyoga Region.


Several station commanders have also been swapped. ASP Kangave Paul moves from OC Station Kwania to Namayingo Central Police Station (CPS) as OC Station, while ASP Arop Richardson transfers from Namayingo CPS to Kwania in the same role.


In traffic management, ASP Asiimwe Alex has been transferred from Busia to Otuke as District Traffic Officer, while ASP Akello Miriam moves from Otuke to Kyankwanzi as District Traffic Officer.


Other notable changes include:


· SP Baguma Nicholas – from North Kyoga to Kidepo as Regional ICT Officer.

· SP Musega Peter – from Kidepo to North Kyoga as Regional ICT Officer.

· SP Ojuka Sam – from Regional Motor Traffic Officer (MTO) North Kyoga to HRA.

· ASP Twinamasiko Ismail – from Kampala Metropolitan North to North Kyoga as Regional MTO.

· D/ASP Ayebazibwe Allan – from D/CID Bulisa to Lira-City East Division as D/CID.

· D/ASP Munyerero Godfrey – from Course to Lira-City Central as D/CID.

· D/ASP Alitia Amos – from Lira-City East Division to West Nile as CID staff.


SP Okema extended gratitude to all outgoing officers for their dedicated service in North Kyoga Region and welcomed the newly deployed officers to join the team already committed to policing and fighting crime.


"We thank very much all the outgoing officers for the good work exhibited in North Kyoga Region and welcome new officers who have been deployed in different positions to join the team already in policing and fighting crime," the statement read. "Congratulations and wish them well."


All transfers and appointments take effect immediately.
