NRM CEC, Caucus Urged to Back Kisembo for EALA as Pan-Africanist Frontrunner

As the race for Uganda's two seats in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) intensifies, Dr. Ronex Tendo Kisembo has emerged as a leading candidate, with supporters urging the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) and Parliamentary Caucus to endorse his bid.

Described as a man "loved by East Africa," Kisembo is being championed for his long-standing commitment to regional integration and his vision for a united East Africa. Advocates argue he is the best person to represent Ugandan interests because he understands the barriers affecting integration and possesses the solutions to overcome them.

"He is not merely seeking a seat as a favour. He is extending a journey he has long been on," wrote a commentator, highlighting his two decades of work advancing the East African project. As Group CEO of Afrika Mashariki Fest, Kisembo has built relationships across the region and advocated for the removal of trade and movement barriers.

Kisembo has also emphasized the need for partner states to match integration promises with financial resources, welcoming reforms to the EAC's funding model. His linguistic fluency in English, Kiswahili, French, Arabic, and others seen as a strategic asset in the legislative environment.

With the NRM's internal selection process underway, calls are growing for the party to choose substance over political arithmetic. Supporters believe sending Dr. Kisembo to Arusha would be an investment in the East Africa that Ugandans desire.
