Museveni Engages AU Panel of the Wise on South Sudan Peace Process Before Departing Juba

Juba, South Sudan– Before departing Juba today, Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the African Union’s Panel of the Wise, led by former Burundian President H.E. Domitien Ndayizeye. The discussions centered on the security situation in South Sudan and the African Union’s role in supporting the implementation of the peace agreement.  


President Museveni emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in ensuring lasting stability in South Sudan. The meeting underscored the AU’s commitment to mediating and reinforcing peace efforts in the conflict-affected nation.  


Earlier, President Museveni also engaged with leaders of various South Sudanese political parties, reaffirming Uganda’s support for an inclusive dialogue to resolve ongoing political challenges.  


Before concluding his visit, President Museveni expressed gratitude to his host, South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit, for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation.  


Uganda remains a key player in regional peace initiatives, and President Museveni’s consultations in Juba highlight continued efforts to foster stability in South Sudan.
