Maj. (Rtd) Emmy Johnson Opio Rallies Veterans in Erute North for Wealth Creation Drive
I Will Vote Eddy Morrish Ogweng For MP Lira City West 2026-2031

Lira District – Major (Rtd) Emmy Johnson Opio, a veteran leader and development mobilizer, has rallied the people of Erute North and South to embrace wealth creation, commercial agriculture, and unity in supporting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s vision for socio-economic transformation.

Speaking to veterans, farmers, and local leaders during a community engagement in Aromo sub county , Opio emphasized that veterans must lead by example in fighting poverty. He revealed that this year alone, his initiative has distributed over 150,000 cocoa seedlings and thousands of coffee seedlings to farmers across Erute North and South, as part of a strategy to promote sustainable cash crops for household income.

Opio further called for the revival of farmers’ cooperative societies, helping farmers draft constitutions, bylaws, and guiding them in registration processes so they can access funding, open bank accounts, and establish functional offices at parish and sub-county levels.

He stressed that agriculture, coupled with strong cooperative movements, would unlock the economic potential of the Lango sub-region. “If we get organized, we can industrialize our agriculture and transform our livelihoods,” Opio said.

Looking ahead, the retired Major declared his intention to contest for Member of Parliament (MP) for Erute North, a position he believes will give him the platform to implement his wealth creation agenda on a larger and industrial scale.
