Awiodyek Sub County, Erute South – In a bid to uplift her community and combat poverty, Lira District Woman Member of Parliament, Linda Agnes Auma, donated a range of kitchenware to Nena A Pwod Akwo Catering Service in Awiodyek Sub County. The donation is part of her ongoing efforts to empower local businesses and improve livelihoods in the region.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Auma expressed her passion for community development, urging residents to take advantage of government programs to transform their lives. "I am deeply committed to helping our people rise out of poverty. Supporting initiatives like this catering service is just one way we can create sustainable change," she said.
Auma also highlighted her recent achievements in lobbying for key infrastructure projects, including the construction of new sub-county quarters for Awiodyek, the establishment of Awiodyek Seed Secondary School, and the development of Amach Market. These projects, she noted, are aimed at improving access to education, trade, and essential services for the community.
In addition to infrastructure, Auma encouraged locals to venture into coffee farming, citing the crop's high market value. "In Buganda, coffee is currently selling at 18,000 shillings per kilogram. Our land in Lango is fertile and produces some of the best coffee in the country. Let us take advantage of this opportunity to improve our incomes," she urged.
The MP's efforts have not gone unnoticed, with many voters expressing their support for her re-election in the 2026 general elections. Jacob Ocen, Auma's Political Assistant, reiterated her unwavering commitment to the people of Lira District, stating, "Linda Agnes Auma's dedication to our community is unmatched. She has consistently delivered on her promises, and we are confident in her leadership."
In a separate meeting with youth leaders in Erute North, Auma received overwhelming endorsement as the sole candidate for the NRM flag in the upcoming elections. The youth leaders praised her for her inclusive approach and tangible contributions to the district's development.
As Linda Agnes Auma continues to gain momentum, her focus remains on empowering her constituents and fostering sustainable growth in Lira District. With her vision and dedication, many believe she is poised for an early victory in 2026.
