APAC, UGANDA – Legacy College Apac has been lauded for its transformative role in promoting education in the Lango sub-region and Uganda at large, as the institution offers 600 bursary opportunities to deserving students.
The initiative, supported by Friends of Legacy College Overseas, enables underprivileged learners to access quality education at subsidized rates—with O-Level students paying UGX 350,000 per term and A-Level students paying UGX 450,000.
On Wednesday, the school received a special visit from Alex Atim, a Ugandan based in the United States, who expressed admiration for the learning environment at Legacy College Apac.
“We decided to support the people of Lango because investing in education means grooming responsible leaders for tomorrow,"Atim said.
During his visit, he met three students whose school fees he will fully cover, urging them to remain disciplined and dedicated to their studies.
Jaspher Okodi, one of the directors of Legacy College Apac, explained that the institution was established to address the financial challenges preventing bright but disadvantaged students from accessing education.
“Many talented young minds in Lango and Northern Uganda miss out on schooling due to poverty. We want to change that narrative,"Okodi emphasized.
James Aboo, another director, thanked the overseas partners for their support and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to delivering high-quality education.
Eddy Morrish Ogweng, the Board Chairperson of Legacy College Apac, urged students to maximize the opportunity, citing the school’s state-of-the-art facilities as a foundation for success.
“You have the best learning environment in Uganda. Stay focused, work hard, and the future will be bright,"Ogweng advised.
Henry Okello, the Head Teacher, revealed that out of the 600 available bursaries, only 306 students have enrolled so far, leaving 294 slots open—400 for O-Level and 200 for A-Level.
Aaron Junior Omara, one of the students sponsored by Atim, pledged to work hard and achieve academic excellence.
“To all children from struggling families, do not give up. If you perform well, God will open doors for you,"Omara encouraged.
With such strong community and international backing, Legacy College Apac continues to shine as a beacon of hope for education in Northern Uganda.
