NORTH AMERICA — The Lango Community of North America (LCONA) has extended its deepest condolences to the people of Tooro, the Royal Family, and the entire Kingdom following the passing of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
In a message of solidarity, LCONA described the King's death as a profound loss not only to the Royal Family but to the entire Kingdom and all who valued his leadership, wisdom, and service to his people and the country at large.
"On behalf of the Lango Community of North America, we extend our deepest condolences to the people of Tooro, the Royal Family, the Kingdom, and all those mourning the passing of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV," the statement read.
"We join the people of Tooro in this moment of profound grief and sorrow. The loss of King Oyo is not only a loss to the Royal Family, but to the entire Kingdom and to all who valued his leadership, wisdom, and service to his people and the entire country."
King Oyo, who ascended to the throne at just three years old in 1995, was one of the youngest monarchs in the world at the time of his coronation. He ruled the Tooro Kingdom for over three decades, championing cultural preservation, education, and the welfare of his people.
Under his reign, the Kingdom witnessed significant strides in promoting Tooro's cultural heritage and fostering unity among its subjects. His Majesty was widely respected for his humility, vision, and commitment to the development of his community.
The Lango community, which has strong ties with other communities across Uganda, expressed their solidarity with the people of Tooro during this difficult time.
"As the Lango community in North America, we stand in solidarity with the people of Tooro during this difficult time. We pray that God grants strength, comfort, and peace to the Royal Family and the people of Tooro as they mourn this great loss," the statement added.
LCONA further noted that the King's contributions would continue to inspire future generations.
"May the memories of His Majesty's life, leadership, and contributions continue to inspire generations to come. Our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt sympathies are with the people of Tooro. May His Majesty's soul rest in eternal peace," the message concluded.
The passing of King Oyo has sent shockwaves across Uganda, with leaders from various regions, government officials, and cultural institutions paying tribute to the late monarch. The Tooro Kingdom has declared a period of mourning as preparations for the final burial rites get underway.
