James Ocen ‘Agipi’ Denies Exit Rumors, Confirms 2026 MP Bid for Lira City East on UPC Ticket

Lira, Uganda –James Ocen, popularly known as ‘Agipi’ has strongly refuted claims that he has abandoned his parliamentary ambitions for Lira City East Division. The aspiring Member of Parliament, who intends to contest on the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) ticket, dismissed the rumors as desperate tactics by opponents who fear his growing 

In a fiery statement, Agipi accused political rivals of circulating falsehoods about his withdrawal from the race. “The people spreading these lies know very well that I am in this race to win. They are afraid because Lira City East already sees me as their true representative,"he declared.  


The vocal leader insisted that his connection with the people makes him the strongest contender for the seat. “The voters know I am their choice. No amount of propaganda will stop me from bringing real change,"he added.  


If elected in 2026, Agipi outlined key priorities for Lira City East, starting with education reform.”Every child in Lira must go to school and have a bright future. We will improve government schools to ensure quality education for all,"he promised.  


On agriculture,he plans to introduce cooperatives to stabilize farm produce prices and protect farmers from exploitation. 

“Farmers suffer when middlemen control prices. With cooperatives, we will ensure fair pricing and better market access,"he explained.  


Perhaps his most urgent pledge is to reduce maternal deaths by constructing  five fully-equipped maternity wards across Lira City East. “No mother should die giving birth. We will provide mama kits and modern facilities to save lives,"he vowed.  

Despite facing multiple opponents, Agipi remains confident that his grassroots support and clear agenda will secure him victory. “Leadership is about service, not just politics. Lira City East needs action, not empty talk," he asserted.  


As the 2026 elections draw closer, James Ocen ‘Agipi’ is positioning himself as a leader ready to tackle education, farming challenges, and healthcare gaps—promising a new dawn for Lira City East.
