Incumbent MP Santa Alum Leading in Tight Race as 2026 Elections Approach

Oyam, Uganda –  In a surprising twist, recent opinion polls have shown that Santa Alum, the current Oyam District Woman Member of Parliament, is leading a highly competitive race, despite a crowded field of National Resistance Movement (NRM) aspirants. As the 2026 elections draw near, Alum’s popularity is soaring, a reflection of her strong bond with the electorate and her steadfast commitment to addressing the needs of her constituents.

Although Alum faces fierce competition from several NRM candidates, her consistent performance in Parliament and dedication to her community have earned her widespread support. Her political savvy and ability to deliver tangible results have positioned her as a leading figure in the upcoming elections, reinforcing her reputation as a determined and effective leader.

Alum’s political influence extends beyond Oyam. She has consistently ranked among the top-performing MPs in Lango and across Uganda. This recognition has further bolstered her popularity, not only in Oyam but throughout the Lango sub-region. Despite being in opposition, Alum maintains solid ties with the NRM government, leveraging these connections to advocate for her people in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Her leadership style, characterized by love, empathy, and an unwavering dedication to public service, has earned her deep respect from both her supporters and even critics.

As the race heats up, all eyes are on Oyam to see if Alum can maintain her lead and secure another term in office. With the stakes higher than ever, the coming months promise to be an exciting and closely watched political battle.

In the meantime, six other women have thrown their hats into the ring, with the most notable challengers being Jane Frances Acilo and Susan Apili. These candidates, eager to unseat the incumbent, are expected to intensify the political contest as the election approaches.

With Oyam at the center of this political drama, the coming months will likely reveal whether Alum’s popularity will carry her to another term or if a new face will rise to lead the district.
