LIRA CITY – Emmy Joe Odongo, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Lira City East Division Mayor, concluded his campaign today with a final appeal to voters, positioning himself as the rightful candidate to spearhead grassroots development.
Campaigning across various locations in the division, Odongo pointed to persistent gaps in basic services as the core reason he needs their vote. He highlighted acute shortages in electricity access, clean water, and good road networks, pledging to prioritize these areas to improve the poor living standards of the people.
“There are places that lack electricity, water, good roads, and even the living of our people is poor. This is what I will work on,” Odongo told the gathered voters, outlining his primary focus if elected.
In his final rallies, the mayoral hopeful also took time to thank the residents of Lira City for their support for the NRM in the recently concluded parliamentary elections. He specifically acknowledged the re-election of Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Minister of Health, as the Woman MP for Lira City, and the victory of Denis Alyela Omodi as the MP for Lira City East Division.
Odongo framed the upcoming mayoral election as a critical link in securing tangible development. He argued that voting for him would create a seamless chain of NRM leadership from Parliament to the local level, ensuring that national programmes and constituency efforts effectively reach the people.
“Voting for me is key because the MPs will bring development down to the people,” Odongo stated. “Giving me your votes is like connecting chains to chains for a better Lira City.”
His message underscores a strategy of continuity and teamwork within the NRM, suggesting that a united front at all levels of government is essential for addressing the division's infrastructure and service delivery challenges.
The people of Lira City East Division will now decide if Odongo will be the final link in that chain as they head to the polls.
