Bala Daniel Vows to End Oyam North’s Poor Leadership, Seeks NRM Ticket for 2026 Polls

Oyam, Uganda – Aspiring Member of Parliament for Oyam North, Bala Daniel, has attributed the constituency’s slow development to weak leadership, vowing to bring change if given the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party ticket in the 2026 elections.

Speaking during a meeting with NRM sub-county chairpersons at Rainbow Hotel in Oyam town, Bala criticized past leaders for failing to mobilize resources and connections needed to spur development, leaving residents in continued suffering.

“The biggest problem in Oyam North is poor leadership. We have had leaders who go to Parliament but lack the networks to attract development. If NRM wants to retain this seat in 2026, they must give the flag to someone who can deliver," Bala declared.

He emphasized his readiness to champion progress, citing his discipline, respect, and unwavering loyalty to the NRM. Notably, after losing the 2021 election to the late Col. Charles Okello Engola, Bala did not run as an independent but remained faithful to the party—a move that has boosted his credibility among supporters.

Martine Abila Okello, one of the NRM leaders present, endorsed Bala, stating that selling him to voters would be easy because of his clean record.

“Bala’s name is not tainted like some of his competitors. He is disciplined, respectful, and most importantly, loyal to NRM. That’s the kind of leader we need," Abila said.

Several NRM sub-county chairpersons pledged their support, describing Bala as a kind and development-focused leader capable of uniting the constituency.

As the race for the Oyam North MP seat heats up, Bala Daniel’s message of transformation and his strong NRM loyalty position him as a formidable contender for the party’s flag.
