KAMPALA, UGANDA – The woman Member of Parliament for Kwania County, Hon. Auma Kenny, was today sworn in for her second term in the 11th Parliament, promising to complete the projects and legislative work she began during her first term.
Auma, who represents the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), took the oath of office at the Parliamentary Chambers in Kampala. In brief remarks shortly after the ceremony, she struck a tone of continuity and determination, acknowledging that her first term ended with several initiatives still in progress.
“I promised the people of Kwania that I would serve them with all my strength. Today, as I begin my second term, I am here to finish the work I left on the way during my first term,” Auma said. “There is no break. We must move forward.”
The lawmaker was emphatic about her role as a voice for the rural constituency. She noted that Kwania, a relatively young district, still faces significant gaps in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
“My primary job is to ensure the voice of the people of Kwania is heard in Parliament,” she stated. “I will not stop lobbying for the development our communities urgently need. Whether it is roads, schools, or clean water, I will speak loudly and without fear.”
As a member of the UPC, a party with deep historical roots in Uganda’s political landscape, Auma also signaled that she would work across party lines where necessary to deliver results for her constituents.
“Development is not about party colors. It is about the people,” she added.
Auma Kenny first entered Parliament in 2021. Her successful re-election and subsequent swearing-in today have been welcomed by supporters in Kwania, who gathered in small groups outside the parliamentary building to celebrate.
The lawmaker concluded by calling on her constituents to remain engaged. “Hold me accountable. Watch the floor of Parliament. You will hear Kwania’s name.”
Her second term officially begins as the 12th Parliament commences its full legislative schedule later this week.
