Amolatar, Uganda – With the 2026 general elections looming, Hon. Janet Auma Okao has intensified her mobilization efforts in Amolatar District, urging Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) loyalists to remain united and committed to the party’s founding vision.
Speaking during a spirited consultative rally in Etam Sub County, Auma Okao described UPC as “a party that delivers and does not disappoint,” positioning it as the true vehicle for transformation in Lango Sub-region.
She paid special tribute to Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, calling him “a divine blessing to the people of Lango.” In a powerful biblical analogy, she likened the Langi to the Israelites, blessed with “God-given fish”—a symbolic nod to Amolatar’s vast aquatic resources in Lake Kyoga.
“We, the people of Amolatar, are like the chosen ones. Our waters are not just resources; they are blessings, and our leadership must reflect that,” she declared.
Auma Okao emphasized UPC’s historical role in grooming political talent across Uganda’s political spectrum. She noted that many leaders currently serving under NRM, FDC, and NUP trace their roots to UPC a testament to the party’s enduring influence.
“UPC is the father figure in Ugandan politics. But for Uganda to develop, we must go beyond party lines and work together,” she told delegates
The race for Amolatar Woman MP is shaping into a political thriller.In the UPC camp, Auma Okao is set for a fierce primary battle against Lilian Winny Atala, following the withdrawal of Nam Eve Tyan.
Meanwhile, in the NRM, incumbent Dr. Agnes Atim Apea will face off with former legislator Hon. Dorcus Akome.
Amid the high-stakes primaries, Auma Okao’s message of unity, legacy, and service delivery appears to be striking a chord with grassroots supporters.
“Let us return to our roots. Let us honor Obote’s legacy by standing firm for UPC in 2026,” she said
