Lango Sub-Region, Uganda – May 16, 2026 – As the newly sworn-in Members of the 12th Parliament of Uganda settle into their roles, Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to the gallant sons and daughters of the Lango Sub-Region, urging them to rise above partisan divisions and prioritize collective service to their people.
In a statement released on Saturday, Amb. Ogwang Okul expressed profound joy, pride, and regional patriotism, acknowledging that the lawmakers' election and assumption of office represent "not merely personal victories, but a solemn trust bestowed upon you by the people of Lango and Uganda at large."
"Your presence in the August House carries the aspirations of our communities, the voices of our people, and the hopes of generations seeking progress, dignity, and prosperity," he wrote.
The Ambassador noted that official duties did not permit him to physically attend each swearing-in ceremony and victory celebration across the sub-region. Nevertheless, he emphasized that he "sincerely associates" with all the new MPs as a fellow leader, son of Lango, and servant of the nation.
"I celebrate your success and stand with you as you embark upon this historic journey of service," he added.
Amb. Ogwang Okul took time to personally congratulate lawmakers from each district in the Lango Sub-Region, including:
Lira City and Lira District: Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, Hon. Cedrick Ebong Eyit, Hon. Denis Alyela Omodi, Hon. Linda Agnes Auma, Hon. Sam Engola, and Hon. Patrick Ongom Aregedeng.
Oyam District: Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, Hon. Dr. Eunice Apio Otuko, and Hon. Patrick Ogwang Obura.
Dokolo District: Hon. Sarah Nyankori, Hon. Vincent Opito, and Hon. Joseph Jones Ogwal Omara.
Kole District: Hon. Sandra Aceng, Hon. Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti, and Hon. Boniface Okot.

The Ambassador reminded the new legislators that they enter the Seventh Term under the leadership of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, inaugurated on May 12, and urged them to rally behind the 2026–2031 National Agenda. He called for committed, disciplined, and visionary leadership to propel Uganda toward a high middle-income economy.
Amb. Ogwang Okul outlined three key priorities for the Lango caucus:
1. Consolidate gains in peace, stability, infrastructure, and social transformation achieved over decades.
2. Champion commercialization of agriculture, value addition, industrialization, and household wealth creation so that "Lango takes its rightful place in Uganda's economic advancement."
3. Commit decisively and without compromise to the fight against corruption, warning that corruption "steals not only resources but also the dreams and future of our people."
In perhaps the most poignant section of his message, Amb. Ogwang Okul urged the MPs to remain united, stressing that political affiliations and electoral contests belong to seasons — but service to the people transcends them all.
"The strength of Lango has never resided in individual accomplishment alone, but in collective purpose," he wrote, invoking a traditional proverb: "The strength of one finger cannot lift a grinding stone. Unity remains our greatest instrument for transformation."
He encouraged the lawmakers to work together across districts, parties, and personal interests for the good of Lango and Uganda, concluding with a sobering reminder: "History will not judge us merely by the speeches we delivered, but by the lives we transformed."
As the 12th Parliament begins its work, Amb. Ogwang Okul's message serves as both a celebration and a summons — a call for Lango's representatives to transcend routine politics and deliver measurable service.
"May your tenure be marked by wisdom, humility, courage, integrity, and measurable service to our people," he wrote. "Congratulations once again. For God and My Country."
The Lango Sub-Region now watches closely to see whether its 12th Parliament lawmakers will heed the Ambassador's call for unity, anti-corruption resolve, and development-centered leadership over the next five years.
