Alebtong District, Ajuri County – In a move to empower local communities, Alebtong Woman Member of Parliament, Dorcas Acen, has donated saucepans and plates to two catering groups in Ajuri County. The beneficiaries include the Otuke Women’s and Men’s Catering Services in Omee Parish, Amugu Sub County, and the Tam Pi Anyim Group in Anyiti Parish, Abako Sub County.
The donation, aimed at supporting the groups’ economic activities, was received with gratitude by members of the community. Speaking during the handover ceremony, MP Acen emphasized the importance of joining groups, stating that collective efforts often attract assistance and foster unity.
“These days, those who are in groups are the ones receiving support. Being in a group helps when one faces challenges, as members can stand with each other. Even during celebrations, they can enjoy together,” Acen said. She encouraged more residents to form or join groups to benefit from shared resources and opportunities.
Addressing her political rivals, Acen expressed confidence in her leadership, stating that she is unshaken by opposition. “I am not afraid of anyone because I know I have the best qualities, and my leadership speaks for itself,” she declared. She also urged politicians and supporters to avoid using divisive language during campaigns, emphasizing the need for unity beyond elections.
“After elections, life must continue. We must remain together as one community, regardless of political differences,” Acen added.
Brenda Okweny, Chairperson of the Otuke Women’s and Men’s Group, praised Acen for her commitment to the community and called on the people of Alebtong District to support both Acen and Denis Hamson Obua, the Government Chief Whip and MP for Ajuri County.
“We urge the people of Alebtong to vote for Denis Hamson Obua and Dorcas Acen so that development can continue to reach our communities,” Olweny said. She highlighted the importance of re-electing leaders who have demonstrated dedication to improving the lives of their constituents.
The donation and Acen’s message of unity and development have resonated with the community, further solidifying her reputation as a leader committed to empowering her people. As the political season heats up, Acen’s focus remains on fostering peace, unity, and progress in Alebtong District.
