LIRA CITY – The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Alebtong District, Mr. Matthias Lutwama, has lauded the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for what he termed as unwavering bravery and dedication in the fight against corruption in Uganda.
Speaking on Sunday at the Mayor’s Garden in Lira City, shortly after participating in a 10-kilometre run to celebrate Gen. Muhoozi’s birthday, Lutwama said the CDF’s uncompromising stance against graft has set a powerful example for leaders and young people nationwide.
“Gen. Muhoozi has shown that fighting corruption requires courage and consistency. His stance has inspired many of us, especially the youth, to stand for what is right,” Lutwama said. He noted that the birthday run offered more than just physical exercise—it was an opportunity for citizens to unite, interact, and brainstorm solutions to national challenges.
Lutwama, who led the Alebtong delegation, specifically thanked Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo for providing running kits that enabled the group’s large turnout. He also praised the CDF for instilling discipline and strong leadership within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), values he described as essential for Uganda’s national development.
The Alebtong District NRM Youth League Chairperson, Mr. Benjamin Otengo, who accompanied Lutwama, echoed the sentiments. Otengo commended the youth for sacrificing their time to join the run, emphasizing that such activities promote not only physical fitness but also unity and patriotism.
“The involvement of our young people in national events like this is a positive sign of growing civic engagement and commitment to our country’s development,” Otengo said.
Both leaders pledged continued efforts to mobilize young people across Alebtong to embrace government programs aimed at improving livelihoods, while sustaining the momentum of patriotism demonstrated during the celebrations.
