Akalo Secondary School Shines as Church of Uganda Names It Best in UCE 2025

KOLE,UGANDA – The community of Akalo Secondary School is basking in glory after the institution received a prestigious award from the Church of Uganda Province for being the best in the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations among top schools nationwide.

The recognition marks a significant academic milestone for the school, which has steadily risen to prominence despite its rural setting. The award was presented by Church of Uganda officials in recognition of exceptional discipline, teaching excellence, and student performance in the national exams.

Addressing a gathering of parents, teachers, and local leaders, the school headteacher, Mr. Wilfred Okabo, dedicated the award to the entire community for their unwavering support.

“I praise this community for truly embracing the school. This award is a product of our collective effort,” Mr. Okabo said. He assured stakeholders that Akalo Secondary School would not rest on its laurels. “We will continue to uphold this excellent performance and ensure students find a bright future here at Akalo Secondary School, regardless of its location,” he added.

The headteacher also revealed impressive enrollment figures, noting that the school’s reputation has driven a remarkable surge in student numbers. “We have grown from 600 students to over 1,000 students, spanning from Senior One to Senior Five,” Mr. Okabo stated.

On the reopening of the academic term, Mr. Okabo reported a smooth start, with most learners already reporting back and lessons proceeding without disruption. He took the opportunity to inform parents that admission is still open for Senior One, Two, Three, and Five classes for those who missed the opportunity last term.

Located in Akalo Subcounty along the Lira-Kole-Apac road, Akalo Secondary School has maintained a stellar reputation not only in academics but also on the sports field. The school has won several trophies through active participation in sporting activities at both district and national levels, further cementing its status as a well-rounded institution.

With the new award and growing enrollment, the school appears poised to become a model of academic and extracurricular excellence in northern Uganda.
