KAMPALA – Counsel Ivan Mwijukye has thrown his weight behind Dr. Tendo Ronex Kisembo’s bid for a seat in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), arguing that the region’s prosperity hinges on trade, not bureaucracy.
In a passionate statement, Mwijukye asserted that the EAC’s success will be measured by trade volumes and wealth creation, not by the number of meetings held. He emphasized that a stronger regional market of over 300 million consumers allows firms to scale up, attract investment, and improve balance of payments by reducing dependence on extra-African imports.

Dr. Kisembo echoed the sentiment, declaring, “The Integration Gospel is ours to preach to the ‘Jews and Gentiles’ relentlessly.” He praised current EAC Chairperson Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as fully committed to the dream, urging supporters to become vanguards revitalizing the integration momentum through Museveni’s upcoming terms (2026-2031).
“The question is no longer whether East Africa should integrate,” Mwijukye concluded. “It is whether East Africa can afford not to.”
