Two Ntungamo District Local Government officials have been arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on serious charges including Abuse of Office, Embezzlement, Criminal Conspiracy, and Electronic Fraud.
Gadala Rogers, an Accountant, and Ssozi Denis, a Municipal Planner, were yesterday charged following a joint investigation by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate ,and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions
According to prosecutors, the two officials stole their colleagues’ passwords and fraudulently processed payments through the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS), diverting a total of UGX 33,462,788 into their personal accounts.
The court heard that the duo exploited internal system vulnerabilities to orchestrate the scheme, undermining public trust and causing significant financial loss to the government.
Grade One Magistrate Abert Asiimwe remanded both Gadala and Ssozi to Luzira Prison until May 6, 2025, when their case will return for mention.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has reiterated its commitment to working with key agencies to curb financial crimes and hold accountable those who abuse public office.
