AMOLATAR – The Territorial Police in Amolatar District have recovered two suspected stolen motorcycles and arrested a male suspect following an intelligence-led operation targeting rising cases of motorcycle theft.
The operation, conducted under the command of District Police Commander (DPC) SP Mafabi John, ran from 2200 hours on May 29, 2026, to 0400 hours on May 30, 2026, within Amolatar Town Council and surrounding areas.
According to a statement issued by SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, Police Spokesperson for the North Kyoga Region, the following motorcycles were recovered:Registration Number UFM 255Z, Bajaj Boxer, red in colour.,One numberless Bajaj Boxer, red in colour, with its registration plate deliberately removed.
The operation led to the arrest of Edii Ambrose, an adult male resident of Odyak Village, Muntu Parish, Muntu Sub-county, Amolatar District. The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations aimed at establishing ownership of the recovered motorcycles and identifying other individuals involved in motorcycle theft within the district.
Police noted with concern the increasing cases of motorcycle theft and have directed the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) to intensify community sensitization on crime prevention.
Intelligence-led and routine operations targeting motorcycle theft will continue across the district, police said. The Traffic Department has also been encouraged to strengthen enforcement by impounding numberless motorcycles and those suspected to be stolen.
Police urged members of the public to always secure their motorcycles using effective locking devices such as U-locks. Churches, entertainment centres, and other public gathering places were also advised to provide adequate security arrangements to safeguard property of congregants and patrons, including motorcycles and bicycles.
"Intelligence remains active on the ground, and operations against criminal elements involved in motorcycle theft will continue," the statement read.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
