This afternoon, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions arraigned Ojuka Anthony before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of corruption and conspiracy to defraud.

Ojuka, a former Lira district councillor and secretary of the Production and Natural Resources Committee, was charged in connection with a 2023 land fraud scheme involving a bribe of UGX 70 million.

According to prosecution, Ojuka and his co-accused — including Chankoma Paul, the Chairperson of the Lira District Land Board — allegedly solicited a bribe from one Eryao Francis. Eryao had purchased land registered under Freehold Register LIRI 181, Folio 3, Plot 31 in Lira District.

The accused reportedly claimed the land title had been fraudulently issued to former owners and was due for cancellation. They allegedly demanded UGX 70 million and received UGX 5 million as a partial payment, promising to use their influence on the land board to halt the cancellation process.

Ojuka has been remanded until May 27, 2025, pending further proceedings.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has reiterated its commitment to working closely with law enforcement and prosecutorial bodies to root out corruption at all levels of government.
